A story of craft, passion, and wool
A Berber rug first catches your eye. Then it transforms your interior.

Our Story
The story of Barbary Wool begins in Morocco, where Amazigh craftsmanship has been part of everyday life for generations. After years of selling our rugs directly from Morocco, we decided to take the next step in 2023: bringing this remarkable craft closer to our customers. This is how Barbary Wool as we know it today came to life, with its roots in the Atlas Mountains and its place in contemporary interiors.
Our rugs are made in our own atelier in the Atlas Mountains. Here, the wool is carefully selected, and each rug is entirely hand-knotted and finished by skilled artisans. We work exclusively with 100% wool. At a time when more and more products are made by machine, we remain committed to traditional craftsmanship. The result is a rug that is truly unique and made to the highest standards.
Our artisans are at the heart of Barbary Wool and are part of our extended family. We work without intermediaries, allowing us to oversee the quality and origin of every rug while ensuring that our artisans receive a fair wage for their craftsmanship.
The result is an exclusive rug with its own character and a meaningful story: handmade in the Atlas Mountains, designed for contemporary interiors and made to last for generations.
"Woven with the skills of the past, created with design of today. That's the essence of a Barbary Wool rug."
Azzedine Mouhoul, Founder Barbary Wool
Our Mission
At Barbary Wool, we give the traditional Amazigh rug a contemporary expression. We combine centuries-old hand-knotting techniques with modern design, while staying true to the origins and craftsmanship behind each rug.
Our WOL collection features accessible, timeless designs that celebrate the natural beauty of 100% wool. Alongside this collection, we create more exclusive pieces featuring intricate patterns and specialised knotting techniques. These rugs are made exclusively by artisans with an average of fifteen years of experience.
This allows us to offer a range of distinctive collections, all united by the same dedication to quality, origin and authentic craftsmanship. Every rug is made entirely by hand and carries the individual character of its maker.
Our Vision
We believe that centuries-old craftsmanship does not need to change in order to remain relevant and innovative. Our artisans continue to knot every rug by hand using traditional Amazigh techniques. Our designers build on this knowledge by creating contemporary shapes, patterns and colours.
We consciously choose natural wool: a strong, warm and durable material with unique qualities that develops even more character over time. No synthetic mass production, but a hand-knotted piece that brings warmth, quality and individuality to an interior.
In this way, the craftsmanship is preserved, while our designs continue to evolve.
